Synopsis

Piggy and Tiggy are married. Have been for years. Tiggy is a statue, which Piggy has placed in a shadowbox, to preserve her perfection forever. So she will never be stained.

Jackie shows up at their door completely stained with cherry pie. And gets a little flirty...

Piggy gets a little hot and bothered. Tiggy gets a little jealous.

One thing leads to another and Piggy & Tiggy spend Act II being investigated for the murder of two other women... all the while trying to hide a third!

Audience Reviews of "The Bellefontaine Bridegroom"

💬 Starra S. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"Absolutely wonderful"

💬 Brenda P. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"Very well performed. Captivating.

The audience is so close & you just stay in character. It’s amazing!

The statue was convincing. I walked in thinking, Oh, I thought the statue would be a live person but I guess it isn’t after all. And then it moved!

The floppy, limp body of the dead woman was also amazing!

Great creativity, costumes, props. You do a great job!"

💬 Charlene C. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"It wasn’t until Act 2 when I all of my wild ideas were clarified. I had so many questions- were they both from the Greek times? Was she a real person trapped under glass?

But Looking Glass Theatre does not disappoint.

It was a fantastical and hilarious show, as always! And after dead Ms. Bellafontaine was thrown out the door, we saw her live foot under the curtain. Then she fell face first down in front of us- HARD!!! We both gasped as we thought it was Laura! Thank God that was the mannequin!

And the statue was incredibly impressive. When we arrived, I walked right past her, thinking it really was a statue, but looked at her face as I passed by, oh my!

Well done as always to all of you! We are so pleased to have found your group!"

💬 Chris E. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"What an amazing original. Creative and thoughtful. I laughed out loud 4 times, which is 5 times more than I’ve ever laughed out loud."

About Looking Glass Theatre

Steinbach's Professional Theatre Company

🎭

Looking Glass Theatre got its start in Community Theatre, as "Looking Glass Productions". Our OG fans will remember the Fringe shows, the camp shows, the university shows, basically any opportunity we could get our hands on. Then, with 15 years of community theatre production behind us, we launched professionally in 2023.

🙋🏼🙋🏻‍♀️

The company was founded by Marc A. Moir and Laura Kathleen Turner. We both started as performers, and throughout the years have eagerly learned the necessary skills to take on show production. So now, we can take a single idea; write it, cast it, costume it, build the set, market it, and perform it at a professional level.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

But it's not just about making opportunities for ourselves. There are two other goals that have driven us from the beginning: To create shows that (1) audiences want to see, and (2) actors want to be part of.

😎

We think live theatre should be a fun, immersive experience that audiences can escape in to. If you want to pull out a "message" or "meaning" from the play, you totally can! But we're never going to force a message; political, religious, or otherwise. At the end of the day, for us, the focus is always going to be on entertainment, artistry, and value for ticket price.

🤩

And, you'll often see the same actors on stage throughout the season. This is intentional! We have found some of the best actors Manitoba has to offer, and we want to show off their versatility

🪞

So there you have it! We are Steinbach's professional theatre company: Bringing fun and exciting live theatre to Steinbach, Morden, and Winnipeg, by holding up a mirror (or, "looking glass") to the human experience, and putting a spotlight on all the beauty to be found there.
